A buyer who opens the hood and finds a clean bay reads it as a car that was looked after. A buyer who finds five years of road film and leaf litter starts wondering what else was ignored. It is the part of getting a car ready to sell that most people forget until the viewing is booked.
You want to see what is going on down there
A weeping hose or a seeping gasket is invisible under a layer of grime and obvious on a clean block. Cleaning the bay does not fix anything mechanical, but it does mean the next thing that starts leaking is something you notice rather than something you discover later.
The rest of the car is done
If the paint and the cabin have both had a full detail, the engine bay is usually the last part still wearing its age. It is a small job on its own and an easy one to add to a visit that is already booked.

An engine bay is not one surface. It is plastic covers, painted metal, rubber hoses, sealed connectors and, on a lot of cars, something a previous owner added that was never meant to be there. Can I book engine bay cleaning on its own?
Yes. It is quoted as its own job rather than being locked inside a package, and it can also be added to a detail you are already booking. Pick it on the quote form and Zachariah comes back with a number for that alone.
Is it safe to clean an engine bay?
On most cars, done carefully, yes — and the care is the whole job. Older seals, exposed connectors, an aftermarket intake or a bay that has already been worked on all change what can be touched. That is why Zachariah looks under the hood before quoting rather than after, and tells you plainly what he will and will not go near on your car.
Will this fix an oil leak or a warning light?
No, and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something. This is a cleaning service, not a mechanical one. What it does is make an existing leak visible, so you can take it to a mechanic knowing where to point.
How long does it stay clean?
Longer than the outside of the car, because a closed hood keeps most of the road off it — but road film builds back up with the kilometres, and a car that spends the winter on salted highways will show it sooner than one that does not. Zachariah will give you a realistic sense for your car when he looks at it, rather than a number he made up.
Do you publish a price?
No — not for this and not for anything else on the site. A bay that has been under a hood for two years is a different job from one that has been under it for twelve. The inspection is free, the number comes after it, and the number does not move on the day.
